STORM - Soil & "Pimp" Sessions

New single. Actually it was out a week ago and probably has been played 100000 times on whatever-you-call-that-Japanese-music-channel.

Well, music-wise, I'll give no comment for now as lousy school speaker can't be turned to the max. And SAPS sounds like buzzing bees in half-hearted speakers. So there you go. Yet, I can somehow say that the music isn't their best so far. In fact, it sounds quite similar to the last album "Pimpoint" with that trumpet blare repeated too often that sometimes, it's unpleasant to the ears. And definitely, it's not something to play in loop or at night.

Having said that does not mean the music is sub-standard. Of course, it's still SAPS music. A killer in jazz club. It would be so demanding to expect your artist to come up with something unique all the time. Artist have style. And style has its own draw-back which is the repetitive pattern aka signature between each outcomes, more or less, depending on creative intention. SAPS wants to make music that can get people jump on their feet at the speed of 3 per second. Of course, it's hard to do so with something totally different with what they have achieved so far. For now, I'd just be happy believing that no matter how similar "Storm" is compared to previous release, it'd surely get me dancing like mad when I play it on my superb stereo set at home. Let's just say this is the time for SAPS to re-discover their sounds. (Somehow, I think they are over-repeating and exposing themselves to entertain Western fans. This reinforces the fact why very little Japanese artists tour overseas)

It looks like I already commented a lot on the song. Ok, let's move on to the video clip part.

The theme is nice, yet it can't be considered as highly refined and no way, it could match SAPS image as well as intensify the effect of their music.
I love the tea-stained theme, washed-out colour, innovative camera angles and all but jerky movement...uhm, that just does not sync with the attack of SAPS beat

And what's with that stupid camel and pine-apples ?

After all, It's SAPS, so I'll still appreciate it blindly.

Maybe something with less complicated touch-on like CRUSH would do SAPS music justice much much more satisfactorily
